Dog Terms and Conditions

We love dogs at Kipscombe, and are very dog-friendly, welcoming up to three dogs free of charge in The Old Stables. It may be possible to bring more, but we do ask that you clear it with ourselves first. Additional dogs will be charged at £30 per dog, per stay to reflect the additonal wear and tear on our dog friendly areas.

North Devon is wonderful for dogs - dog friendly beaches, attractions, walks and plenty of welcoming pubs and cafes. However, it is also home to a large farming community including grazing sheep and cattle. As a responsible owner you will need to keep your dog on a lead around livestock and wildlife. This is particularly relevant to areas where you might suddenly come across sheep, for example on Exmoor - it is much better to be safe than sorry. For dogs that like to run, we particularly recommend booking some discounted sessions at the neighbouring North Devon Secure Dog Field so they can burn off energy in safety.

Dog Rules

Only dogs on the Booking Form allowed and agreed with our permission

No puppies under 12 months unless agreed in writing prior to arrival

No females in season

Please make sure that your dog is free from worms, fleas and ticks. We live in an area where there are deer, sheep, bracken and woodland, all of which are factors that increase the risk of ticks in particular, so we strongly recommend that your dog has tick protection on board and that you check them daily.

Please do not bring your dog if they are unwell, or potentially contagious. Infections like Kennel Cough and Giardia can spread quickly, and are particularly dangerous for the old and vulnerable. We realise that this can be hard to predict, so please contact us to discuss

Dogs to be kept on short leads at all times (apart from in the enclosed garden and orchard) - we have neighbouring sheep and resident animals

The use of any of the land or equipment at Kipscombe is at your own risk

We provide luxury beds for visiting dogs, but realise that some dogs like to snuggle on the sofa so we will cover the sofa before your arrival. If you are confident that your dog will stay on the floor you can remove the cover

We prefer dogs not to sleep on the bed/bedrooms but, if this is what your dog is used to, please either bring your own bedlinen and duvet, or ask to hire our washable duvet and dog-friendly bedlinen

No dogs in the bathroom for any reason

No dogs to be left unattended in the property or any part of the grounds at any time. (We might be able to offer a dog sitting service)

All dog waste to be picked up and placed in the designated bin

Please do not use towels provided for human guests to dry your dog. Ask if you required more dog towels

Please do not allow your dog to bark excessively, or to disturb the resident animals and neighbours

When vacating the property please remove as much dog hair and dirt as possible, leaving the property as you found it. Additional cleaning costs will be charged if necessary
